How do my students get access to the film?

If your college is a Platino Educa customer, you and your students already have access to the film on camps without a password and off campus via your libraries proxy server. 

Just provided your students with the link to the Un Mundo Para Julius film page and click on “Pelicula.”

My college is not a customer, how do my students get access to the film?

Platino Educa provides a 30-day free trial to all college and universities.  Simply connect us with your library to set up a trial.  We will turn on on-campus access and off-campus access via the library proxy server 30 days prior to your scheduled lecture.  Email PJ Kuyper at pj@platinoeduca.net and let us know a proposed date for the lecture.

Is there a charge for the lecture?

Platino Educa is not collecting any fee for the lecture with Prof. Rossana Díaz Costa.  We do ask you to pay an optional honorarium to Professor Díaz as you are able.

What topics will Professor Díaz speak about?

Professor Díaz has addressed many topics and is open to exploring new topics.  Typically, students and professors will ask about:

  • Class, privilege and race in Peru.

  • How the struggle for equality has changed in Peru.

  • Gender violence in Peru. Situation of women.

  • The adaptation of the novel into a film.

  • The importance of the novel in Peru and Latin America.

  • How to make a film and direct children.

  • How to make a film in a country with no film industry.

How do I schedule a day and time for the lecture?

For the fall semester or 2024, Professor Diaz is generally available Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and some Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. 

If you ready set up a lecture, just fill out the form on this page and include a few dates that would work for your class(s) and we will connect you with to Prof Diaz. 

Should I communicate with Professor Diaz prior to the lecture?

Absolutely!  Once your date is scheduled, we will provide you with Professor Díaz’s e-mail. She is happy to discuss the topics, forum, or any specific request. 

Is the lecture conducted in English or Spanish? 

Your choice.  Professor Díaz is fluent in both languages and happy to speak to your students.
